American Baby Abroad
You may have noticed a little radio silence on this blog recenlty. Actually, a lot. I apologize, but I promise I have a good reason. A really adorable reason.
Honestly, my pregnancy and labor couldn't have gone better. When Americans ask me if it was better or worse than in the States I can only say it was great for me. This is my first child so I have nothing to compare it to. The end result was a healthy, happy, absolutely wonderful baby so we're all pretty thrilled.
I know I'm not the first to experience a baby abroad - not by a long shot. Along with the copious accounts found with our listings of expat blogs and interviews, there are twitter hashtags, forums, groups and websites dedicated exclusively to the phenomenon. In fact, two recent articles concernign opposite perspectives caught my eye:
- A German mom in America: Would you rather be a new mom in the U.S. or Germany? via Wall Street Journal
- An American mom in Germany: How to parent like a German via Time
So I am asking,
Have you had a baby abroad? How did you find the experience? Do you have tips for a new American mom raising a baby abroad?
